Spartans of Promise

On Thursday, October 30, the UNCG Alumni Association and Chancellor Linda P. Brady will present the 2014 Alumni of Distinction Awards, in recognition of outstanding service and achievement. (Click here to register for the Alumni of Distinction Dinner.)
In addition to the Distinguished Service Award, Excellence Award, Young Alumni Award, and Woman’s College Legacy Award recipients announced last month, we will also recognize outstanding UNCG seniors who demonstrate exceptional achievement in both academic and service endeavors with the new Spartans of Promise Award.
The 2014 honorees:
Spartans of Promise Award
Kristen is pursuing a degree in Accounting and Information Systems. She is involved in Beta Alpha Psi and has completed the Office of Leadership’s Bronze, Silver and Gold leadership challenges.
Melvin is pursuing a degree in Psychology. He is the President of his Hall Council, a Resident Advisor, an Academic Liaison for International Programs and a University Marshal.
Raegan is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. She is involved in a number of organizations such as the Campus Outreach program, The National Society of Leadership Success and Kappa Delta Pi, and is a University Marshal.
Dustin is double majoring in International Business and Economics. When he is not on the field or practicing for the UNCG men’s soccer team, he is working in groups like Beta Gamma Sigma, and Ambassadors of the Economics club, all while maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.8.
Liz is pursuing a degree in Business Administration. She is a member of the Golden Chain Society, Legal Professions Association and a part of the Student Conduct team. Liz maintains a 4.0 GPA and is an avid volunteer for the local Relay for life.
Taylor is majoring in English with a concentration in Secondary English. She is involved with the Office of Leadership and Service Learning as a Student Reflection Leader, and works in the University’s writing center as a writing consultant.
Jessica is pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Environmental Studies. She is involved in many groups such as the Geography club, UNCGreen, Spanish Club and North Carolina Association of Environmental Professionals.
Brianna majors in Spanish and plans on remaining with the North Carolina Literacy Corps once she finishes her degree in May. She is a member of Alianza (UNCG’s Latino Association), Alpha Lambda Delta honor society and the National Society for Collegiate Scholars.
Patrick is a majoring in Public Health. He has been recognized as a Scholar for Academic Achievement by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, and is on the Chancellor’s and Dean’s Lists. Patrick is also a Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Kevin is pursuing a degree in Biology and plans on entering dental school once he has completed his undergraduate studies. His time here at UNCG has been spent volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, Hospice, and the L.D. Pankey Dental Foundation’s “Dental Access Days” program, and he wants to continue his volunteering with the North Carolina Missions of Mercy once he has finished his time here at UNCG.
